Matthew 13:44
"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field."

Introduction:
Normally when we talk about the Kingdom of heaven, we immediately jump to seek you first of Matthew 6:33, focusing on all these things things will be added unto you, without realizing that we are after the kingdom of heaven.
This parable of the kingdom of heaven in verse 44 is identical with verses 45-46 of Matthew 13. Both picture salvation as something hidden from most people. It is so valuable that whoever finds it and revealed it to him, he is willing up all that he has to possess it.
Same as when we are facing New Year, Filipinos are all excited of the coming year with lots of hope and expectation but not with regards to their spiritual life. We put so much emphasis on material blessings and thinking about how much wealth we have to gain to rate ourselves as successful.
This year, instead of searching for an ideal person and a faultless place as if you are on a treasure hunt, seek Jesus, the perfect person where He said He will prepare perfect place for those who trust Him.

Example:
Look at your New Year's resolution for relationship, finding an ideal partner or moving to an almost paradise home or landing a high paying job. How have reason and practicality entice you to minimize the joy Christ offers? Do you pursue God less less passionately? This is not guilt tripping sermon. This is making Jesus, the Pearl of Great price your ultimate joy as you give.

investing that treasure of salvation we found in Christ as what Matthew 13:44 convey.

Because,
*1 Money cannot buy us joy.
Matthew 6:19-21, 1 Timothy 6:18-19,

*2 Money is a cruel master which will bring us sorrow.
Matthew 6:24, 1 Timothy 6:10, Proverbs 11:28

*3 Money is a tool to bring God's glory for our ultimate joy.
Matthew 2:11, Luke 3:8-14, Luke 19:8-10, 1 Timothy 6:18-19

Mga tanong ako bago magwakas ang ating pag-aaral this morning?
*1 How can you have the joy that the Lord has promise? How can you give your whole heart to God to enjoy Him forever?

*2 How well are you showing love for God, love for others and the pursuit of true joy through you handle the money and possessions God entrusted to your care?
